GEMs of Wisdom from "To Date or Not to Date:  That is the Question...or is it?" by Pastor Chris Oliveri of Clayton Valley Church in Concord

(Pastor Chris, Thank you for taking on the most requested and surprisingly controversial topic among Christian families).

“BIBLICAL MATURITY IS NAVIGATING THE GRAY IN A BIBLICAL WAY” ~ Pastor Chris Oliveri

Dating is a matter of conscience (Romans 14:12-13).

Since there is no Biblical formula for dating, as Christians we must be cautious not to judge each other’s approach in this area of parenting.

The culture’s influence is in opposition to the Bible’s wisdom, so let’s be united in three basic Biblical principals for romantic relationships:

1) PARENTS - Instruction by dad and mom

2) PURITY - Song of Solomon 2:7

3) PACING - Wise limits emotionally, physically, verbally, culturally.  (Ask a mom who attended for specific examples to implement).

Cultivate BIBLICAL CHARACTER in young MEN:  Wisdom, heart after God, leadership, pace, communication, admire inner beauty, be "tough yet tender."

Cultivate BIBLICAL CHARACTER in young WOMEN:
God’s ideal of beauty is the heart, discretion, discernment, and fear of God.
